Casual Outfit of the Day

Sweater: Boden
Jeans: Rag & Bone

Some days you just want to wear your sweats while you are out running errands, and some days, maybe that's just what you do.  But next time the urge strikes, stop and think about pulling on something like this instead.  You'll never have that, "I can't believe I went out in this" regret ever again.

Fashion in Real Life

Dress and Shoes: Valentino                             Sweater: Dorothy Perkins
                                                        Skirt: SheInside
                                                       Blouse: J Crew
                                                                   Heels: Anthropology

I think I was first drawn to this editorial shot by Karl Lagerfeld in the September 2013 issue of Harper's Bazaar because it so exemplifies everything that I always wanted to be.  Tall, thin, icy blond - check.  On the surface, sweet and icy pink - check.  The fact that I once had a fuzzy pink angora dress probably also played into the equation.

Office Outfit of the Day

Earrings: Eddie Borgo
Bag: Ted Baker
Pumps: Paul Andrew

There is just something so classic and ladylike about this outfit.  I don't know whether it is the lace of the coat, the drape of the skirt, the delicate straps of the pumps, the color of the bag, or the bold cocktail ring, but it feels like you could have been wearing this 60 years ago or 60 years from now and would still be the best dressed person in the room.

Product of the Day - Clinique Chubby Sticks

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that a pencil is the perfect delivery method for every kind of cosmetic.  While maybe not every kind, but they sure are handy.  I'm completely obsessed with balm crayons for the lips, and now I've transferred that obsession to eye crayons.

Date Night Outfit of the Day

Dress: LNA
Gloves: Gucci
Belt: Vicoliventi
Bag: ZAC Zac Pozen
Pumps: Miu Miu

The husband and I had plans to go out to dinner on Monday for an early Valentine's celebration, but we had to cancel our plans because he was not feeling well.  If we had gone out, I was planning on wearing something like this.

Splurge vs Steal - Initial Pendants

Tiffany Notes Alphabet Disc Charm         BaubleBar Engraved Monogram Pendant

I have a minor addiction to Tiffany jewelry, but if $500 for an initial pendant isn't in your budget, this monogram from BaubleBar might be a little bit more your style.  Not only can you have it engraved with your entire monogram, it's available in sterling silver or rose gold in addition to gold.  Even better, the Tiffany charm does not come with a chain, but the BaubleBar piece is a pendant with an attached chain.  Out the door for $135.

Casual Outfit of the Day

Coat: Maison Martin Margiela
Boots: Stuart Weitzman 5050
Dress: Vince
Bag: Rag & Bone
Necklace: Alexis Bittar

Call me crazy, but I decided a long time ago that wearing dresses like this one is a lot more comfortable than wearing jeans on my casual days.  For the winter, this exaggerated shawl collar coat and over the knee boots can keep you warm while still being comfy.  The necklace would look great peeking out of the v-necks of both the dress and the coat, and I love how the bag pulls together the colors of the dress and the boots.

Office Outfit of the Day

Skirt: Dagmar
Pumps: Jimmy Choo
Necklace: Jozica

A pencil skirt and pullover top are my favorite combo for an office outfit.  It's so simple yet so professional and pulled together.  Paired with a simple, classic pump and statement jewelry, this monochromatic look makes it look so effortless to be so ready for the job.

Fashion in Real Life

          Dress 1: Miss Selfridges
Dress 2: J Crew
Watch: Michael Kors
Pumps: Nine West

If I were to be completely honest, I would have to own up to having three versions of the classic grey shift dress in my closet right now, so when I saw this picture of Clare Danes in the August 2013 issue of Vogue, I knew it would be easily recreated.  Little did I know that it's pretty hard to find a plan grey shift dress at an affordable price right now.  The hunt was on, and the two dresses above are options if you want something but are on an extremely tight budget or if you have a little bit more to spend on a classic that you'll have for years.  The Miss Selfridge dress is on a huge sale right now and is only $18.  It won't last long, so if you like it, you better grab it.

Casual Outfit of the Day

Hat: Valentino
Earrings: Rochas
Turtleneck: Barneys
Jacket: Helmut
Bag: Lanvin

Unless this is the first time you've visited this blog, you already know that I personally stick to a very neutral palette for my closet.  I generally buy only black, white, grey, or navy clothing items and then work in color with shoes, bags, and jewelry.  That's just what works for me.  I think those are the most flattering colors for me to wear, and I have greater flexibility in coming up with new outfits since everything goes together.

Product of the Day - Marc Jacobs Beauty

Marc Jacobs Beauty

I know I usually only pick one product to focus on when I do a post about beauty here, but this new line is so good, I couldn't pick just one thing.  There had been a lot of fanfare about the coming of Marc Jacobs Beauty, and I kept wondering, "How good can it really be?  Will it be worth the price?"  Now there are some amazing reasonably priced brands out there right now who are doing so many things right.  You may have seen my recent Instagram shots of a Pixi pallet that I'm just in love with right now.  Knowing that you can get good things at reasonable prices makes me very leery of higher end brands that don't deliver anything more than their name.
