Party season is kind of cyclical.  It ramps up at the end of the year for the holidays and then dies off during the cold winter.  Then suddenly the sun starts shining, and things warm up, and parties start up again.  Before it's too warm though, you still need to layer, especially for any outdoor events.  The pale color scheme is perfect for spring, and the coat will keep you warm next to the heating lamps.
