While flipping through October's Vogue, I was stopped by this image of Karlie Kloss in the spread "Live and Kicking". This outfit is just how I would have loved to dress when I was in my twenties. So how to translate it to a wearable outfit now? By finding a less overt way to bring the plaid into the outfit while still bringing the color of the skirt and the texture of the boots in. Oh, and by reducing the sticker shock from $3,330 to $589.85. That's less than 18% of the original cost...

There's nothing that I love more than a good plaid except a skirt with some texture except a skirt with some unique details. You see where I'm going with this, right?
I find that I'm intrigued by the McQueen perfume. I don't know whether it's the bottle or the description or the cost, but I can't wait to sample this one. If you've had the chance to get a whiff of it, do let me know what you think.

I have never met a striped dress I didn't like. Some will say they don't work on everyone, but I think this one has a flattering cut, great contrast arms, and it's navy, which seems to be everywhere for this fall. Partnered with these great burgundy loafers that have a chunky heel, this outfit is perfect for all of the running around we all have to do as it gets closer to the holiday season.
You know you want these boots, and every time you see some supermodel or celebrity wearing them, you know that you would look amazing in them. And they're flats, so they are so practical. And it's going to be cold this winter, so they are so practical.
And just when you think you have it justified, you take one more look at the price of those Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots, and you say to yourself, "Who am I kidding? That's more than my car payment." But that doesn't mean you still don't want them.
This pair from Vince Camuto looks virtually the same at a quarter of the price. It still may be a little pricey, but just remember all those reasons you convinced yourself that they were so practical. Come on: it's going to be a cold winter. Do it to keep warm.

I don't know about you, but I'm so excited that navy is everywhere for fall. I'm a fan of slamming up jeans for a night out, and these pumps are so super sparkly that keeping everything else toned down is key. Even better is that the clutch is now on sale for under $30, and the jeans are under $50.

I know, I know, I've posted two beige turtlenecks in a row, but how great is a beige turtleneck? This Gucci skirt is a little more high-end then I usually like to post in outfits here, but there is just something about that calls to me. I will probably be on the hunt myself for a less expensive option. The chunkiness of the bootie pairs well with the knits especially since it has a little bit of a longer length then what you normally see on a bootie. This will make the ankle seem slimmer and, for most people, will be a better option when paired with a skirt. I've named this a casual outfit, but the earrings add a bit of drama and make this a great transitional day to evening out for drinks kind of outfit.

This look was grabbed out of the September issue of InSTYLE. The outfit in the magazine comes in at $1775. Using the cashmere turtleneck from J Crew, my outfit totals $520.15, but for once the original sweater is less, so if you keep the original sweater, you could get the price of the outfit down to $445.15. That's a whopping 75% reduction in the price, and that's only if you need to buy every piece new. Using pieces from your closet, how much would it cost you to recreate this look? I'd love to hear, so leave a comment if you are going to try to recreate the look.
I use the Sea Salt Spray when I use my iron to make beachy waves, and it gives texture without that hard or sticky feeling. The bonus is the scent, which is light but long lasting.

We are having a really mild lead in to summer here in Southern California. We have had a few hot days along the way, but usually by this time of the year, I'm bemoaning not getting enough use out of my sweaters over the "winter." I've actually been wearing sweaters every morning for the last two weeks, so this casual outfit seems perfect to me for a weekend of chores and errands.

As I sit here typing this, I'm pondering the ridiculousness of it all. I'm looking at navy coats, and the rest of the world is immersed in Spring fashions. That pretty much sums me up lately; always running just a little bit behind.
The good thing about looking at navy coats right now is that if you can find them, they will inevitably be on sale. I've linked to two that are classic and can be worn next winter or ten winters from now, and I show the price as of about two weeks ago. As we continue to inch toward summer, if they are still available, the price will just keep falling, and you'll be able to score an incredible bargain with just a little investment. Something to consider, right?

As much as I love classic cuts for the office, I also love to add a little edge. And what adds edge more than leather? But wait, I can't wear a leather dress to the office you say. Oh yes you can when it's just a touch in this classic pairing of a black pencil skirt and tunic paired with elegant black pumps and simple yet stunning accessories.
